The Blue Coat School first opened in 1834 to provide education for orphaned boys. The historic campus has been restored and developed extensively, today students enjoy the use of the Grade II listed building but their learning takes place in superb 21st century classrooms, laboratories and studios.
The school is located on the outskirts of Oldham Town Centre. Currently, there are around 1100 pupils in the main school, with an additional 300 in the sixth form. There are also over 150 members of staff.
Security Solutions were initially engaged through a third party to provide a solution for an entrance system at the school. Covering the main entrance to the school, the customer had in place a dated manual vehicle and pedestrian gate system, which offered no real security due to them being 1200mm in height and in poor condition.
The customer and architects brief were firstly, to offer a solution in keeping with the grade II listed buildings at the main school entrance. The new hinge gate system would comprise of a solution for both vehicle and pedestrian entry and egress, the hinge gates would be in keeping with the surroundings and all products supplied are compliant to the latest gate safety standards.
Working with the architect, customer and third-party contractor, Security Solutions provided a solution which met the stakeholder’s criteria, this consisted of a SSHG Automatic Hinged Gates, SSPG Automatic Pedestrian Gate, SSPG Manual Hinged Gate and matching fencing. All products where of an ornate design to be in keeping with the grade II listed site and the equipment was installed with additional safety equipment to match the site environment.
To maintain the Blue Coats and local government safeguarding policy to protect pupils, staff and visitors. The School took the decision to take out a service and maintenance contract with Security Solutions. The customer has piece of mind that if environmental or criminal damage to the equipment occurs, they can have a Security Solutions engineer on call 24 hours 7 days a week.

Full CE & BS compliance is adhered to and all systems offered have full health and safety approval. Gates are available in a galvanised finish or a choice of 5 standard colours, white, black, grey, green and blue.
