Cannon Slade High School in Bolton has a long and distinguished history, originally founded in 1855 by the then Vicar of Bolton, Cannon Slade James and located in the town centre of Bolton. The school has been educating the young people of Bolton at their Bradshaw Brow site since 1956, currently the school has around 1700 pupils including 300 sixth form students.
Continual development of the Bradshaw Brow site has seen the addition of new buildings to accommodate the growth of the school, the site boasts 57 acres of educational space. The school governing body made the decision in early 2018 to update the existing physical security equipment protecting the school.
Approached directly by the client, Security Solutions accepted an invitation to attend an open site visit with other industry specialists to survey for a proposed sliding gate system. Through consultation the Security Solutions team member advised an alternative product solution due to a quick lock down requirement, site restrictions and heavy operational usage of the equipment.
Following a formal tendering process, having demonstrated operational understanding of the level of security required, recommending the correct equipment, being DHF accredited and competitively priced, the contract was awarded to Security Solutions.
The client required that the installation of the SSSG Automatic Sliding Gate, SSBF Automatic Bi Folding Entry and Exit gates, SSSG Manual Swing Gate, Pedestrian Gates and associated fencing was carried out over the school’s summer shut down.
Civils and installation teams worked systematically over a period of 3 weeks to complete the installation. All operational site staff were required to hold Enhanced Disclosure clearance before site entry was permitted.
To maintain the Cannon Slade and local government safeguarding policy to protect pupils, staff and visitors. The School took the decision to take out a service and maintenance contract with Security Solutions. The customer has piece of mind that if environmental or criminal damage to the equipment occurs they can have a Security Solutions engineer on call 24 hours 7 days a week.
