SECURITY Solutions defines its market aims in two words – to become the ‘go to’ company for perimeter, physical, high security, traffic management, pedestrian and access control.
Over the 18 years since it was formed its presence within the industry has grown and gained an envious reputation as a ‘one stop’ solution provider for all site vehicles, pedestrian security and access control requirements.
‘That’s why we talk about a ‘go to’ company,’ said managing director Andrew Davies, who has shaped the Bolton based business since it was formed.
The company has built its reputation on providing solutions for the growing demand arising over the past decade for security as opposed to demarcation of site boundaries.
‘The requirements to enclose perimeters around buildings and facilities were centring more and more on the need for increased security rather than just having something to show a site boundary,’ he said, ‘and that’s where began to mature as a business.”
“Our in house capability to manufacture standard ranges of equipment whilst being flexible to design and manufacture bespoke solutions to integrate within existing site constraints quickly set us apart from the mainstream where the majority of companies are really just installers buying and selling sourced products. Most don’t offer the complete package that we offer of manufacture, design, project management,; installation and 24/7 support service through our dedicated call centre. It was the strategic decision some years ago to become a bespoke design manufacturer that meant we could offer a fully rounded service that is totally under within our control.”
That decision provided the foundation on which Security Solutions has been able to transform itself into a major player within the UK Security and access control market. With a workforce of 40 and a turnover in the region of £4 million, the company continues to develop its own products and concentrate on perimeter, physical, and high security markets for the control of both vehicles and pedestrians.
“Our product range is comprehensive from automatic and manual cantilever sliding gates through to turnstiles, traffic barriers, road blockers, bollards and a range of crash rated products successfully tested to PAS 68. Our knowledge and expertise allows us assist architects, consultants and contractors to overcome design constraints and deliver full turnkey solutions”
Many companies see after sales service as problematic but our service and maintenance department has always been an integral and important part of Security Solutions. We have invested heavily in technology to modernise and streamline our processes with the output objective of improving the customer experience to meet and exceed their expectations. Through both our internal training academy and external courses all our engineers are DHF Powered Gate Group and Gate Safety accredited along with all the industry expected certificates and cards enabling them to work autonomously and from live job sheets via their tablets providing real time information on job details for both engineer and customer.
Davies is supported by a strong and stable senior management team with an accumulative company service totalling over 53 years of Derek Oakley, production director, plus national sales manager Adrian Nottingham; senior operations manager Brian Wilkinson and service manager Andrew Price.
‘As with any business staff are key and keeping pace with market demands. Obviously, like any good business there is a drive to become No.1 and we will strive towards this by continually investing to develop and improve our people, product range, implement modern manufacturing techniques and improve levels of service until we are recognised as the number one ‘Go To’ company for cost effective quality products and services and feared by our competitors as we ultimately grow and gain market share.
‘The UK physical and perimeter security market is quite stable and our business plan forecasts steady growth over the next 3-5 years as we have a strong customer base that has for many years placed regular business. The ever increasing Health and Safety legislation and the adoption of the DHF Powered Gate and Gate Safety regulations will enhance not only the new install projects but also bring in additional service revenue through upgrades bringing existing installations in line with the latest legislation. The export market offers an exciting opportunity particularly in the Middle East Gulf Region but we have a lot to learn about the sales process and varying cultures and we will be working with the UKTI to ensure we make a success of it as we have a great opportunity to strengthen our excellent reputation and brand for Stadia turnstile solutions globally,’ he said.
