Deciding which type of security gate to use to protect your site is a big decision. Automatic security gates are an investment that requires careful consideration. If you plan to secure a site entrance or zone off restricted areas within a site, many factors including opening size, availability of space, opening speed and duty cycle rate (the number of operations daily) can determine what type of security gate to use.
Each of our security gates feature a host of benefits, to assist you in the decision making process, please see our summary to help you select the best gate for the job:
Cantilever Sliding Gates
Cantilever sliding gates are suspended across the gate opening from the counterbalance, with no rollers running along the ground. Cantilever gates are considered to be much more reliable than tracked gates, and are commonly used for heavy-duty and industrial gate applications.
Cantilever gates are popular where space limitations mean a standard swing gate is not an option, available as single leaf or double leaf configurations, they are operational in all weather conditions and suited to high security entrances.
Bi Folding Gate
Bi folding gates are constructed from two panels that are hinged together. When activated the gate panels fold back onto themselves to allow access. Bi folding gates are most commonly used in pairs, with one pair being used on each side of the gate opening.
Bi folding gates require only a small footprint and are often a good choice when space is limited. Many bi folding gates have relatively fast opening and closing speeds.
Swing Gate
Swing gates are hinged on one side and swing open like a door. Swing gates typically travel a 90 degree arc ( but can travel up to 180 degrees) between their open and closed positions. Swing gates can consist of a single leaf or double leafs and can be in-swinging or out-swinging.
Swing gates are most commonly used in residential applications because of their low cost and ease of installation. Because swing gates travel over a large arc, space must be available to allow vehicles approaching the gate to remain clear while the gate opens or closes.
There are many accessories that are used in conjunction with automatic gates, additional safety devices such as photocells, induction loops, flashing lights, sirens, safety edges and warning signs. Automatic gates can be operated by a number of access control methods including intercoms, digital keypads, card readers, free exit and radio transmitters / receivers.
